The Crack Pot Speaking in a lighter vein at the annual conference Banquet of Midland Psychiatric Research Group on June 9th 2006, Prof. R. N. Mohan an important member of the organizing committee narrated few anecdotes and stories which are perhaps from Chinese Wisdom to amuse the audience. One of the stories he narrated was of a Crack Pot. The story goes like this. Elderly women used to bring home water from a long distance daily in two pots. One of the pots had developed a crack with the result that every day when she reached home, this pot used to be half empty. It went on for a long time. One day the crack pot said to the elderly women, I am extremely ashamed of my self. You go daily to bring water from such a far of distance but since I have developed a crack, lot of water is lost by the time you reach home. The lady replied you do not have to be ashamed of. Don’t you see that I have always kept you on the left side? I put flower seeds on the ground where this water pours and all these months the beautiful flowers that you see in the house are taken from there. The moral of the story is that one should try to look at the positive side. Every one has some qualities and can be useful but it is up to the team leader to make best use of every member of the team. |
