Feature on
Tehran Thanks for published a detailed feature on Tehran Heart Center in your prestigious newspaper Pulse International. Such articles, certainly, could be much effective to further strengthen bilateral relationship between two brotherly countries Iran and Pakistan. We look forward for further collaboration in the field of academics in the days to come. Please convey my regards to Dr Maqbool Jaffary as well. Prof. Hesam Abbasi
Workshop on
Medical Editing It was a very well organized workshop held at NICH on June 14th 2008. You have that ability. Thanks for asking me to join in. I look forward to similar workshops as I have always had the intention of passing on whatever little knowledge I have, to others. It is such a big satisfaction. Thanks once again. Dr. Fatema Jawad
Thanks for allowing me to participate in the useful Workshop on Medical Editing and Peer Review organized by PMJA at NICH on June 14th 2008. It was a wonderful experience.
Prof. Sohail Akhtar
Thank you for providing me an opportunity to learn and interact with the participants of the workshop on Medical Editing and Peer Review held at NICH Karachi. Within the resources, it was successful. It is only due to your drive and passion. Maj.
Gen. (R) Prof. Muhammad Aslam
I wish to congratulate you on organizing and conducting such an informative workshop on Medical Editing and Peer review at NICH on Saturday June 14th 2008. I would also take this opportunity to give you some suggestions as well. Firstly I came to know about the workshop through Pulse International and at the end of the advertisement contact numbers were mentioned but no email address. Landline is still not working in some areas and I was able to get myself registered after five days of hard work. Secondly, since the workshop is not only attended by the editors but writers like me as well so the workshop should have topics like WHO ARE EDITORS, WHY EDITORS REJECT PAPERS/ARTICLES...Instead of ROLE OF EDITORS. This would have and will not only attract more participants but also apprise the participants of the difference between editing, reviewing and proofreading of an article. Also by reading such a topic people will understand that editors are not cruel in rejecting an article straightaway. This is a multi step process involving a lot of hard work. Thirdly make sure that all the Heads and Professors of teaching hospitals and postgraduate institutes get the information of these workshop so that not only they come and attend it but also disseminate the knowledge they acquire to their juniors. This is how the problem of plagiarism and substandard articles can be overcome. I will be too glad to help in planning the format of such workshops in future. Lastly thank you once again and specially for the book on Proceedings of First National Conference on Medical Editing which I got at the Workshop.. Dr. Warda
K. Bhatti,
Note: This workshop was basically meant for the Editors and Reviewers and not for the writers though we had accepted a few of them as well as some young postgraduates to provide them an opportunity to interact with the Editors. The format and contents of workshops on Medical Writing which we organize from time to time are entirely different. As regards your other suggestions, please note we cannot and do not want to force any body to come and participate in these workshops. Any one who is interested is most welcome. As regards teaching institutions, some one from the administration or faculty or the institution head has to take the initiative and we in the PMJA will be too glad to organize such workshops for them, something that we have been doing for many institutions all over the country for the last many years.
