Dr. Omar Atiq a Pakistani
Physician to become ACP President

NEW YORK: Dr. Omar Atiq has been nominated for the post of President of American College of Physicians and he is the only candidate. Hence, when the election takes place in January 2022, he is certain to become the President of ACP which is a great honour for Pakistan as well.

Dr. Omar Atiq, it may be mentioned here, is a physician of Pakistani descent he is so far the only second intentional medical graduate to be selected for this coveted position. He is a professor of medicine and otolaryngology, head and neck surgery and is based in Arkansas.


 

Med College, 1000-bed Hospital
planned at new KEMU Campus

LAHORE: Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar chaired a meeting of the KEMU Senate recently. Speaking on the occasion he said that the new campus of KEMU under construction at Muridke Narowal Road, is very important project. It will benefit people from four districts i.e. Sheikhpura, Narowal, Gujranwala and Sialkot International Medical College and Allied Health Sciences Departments, will be established. Here In addition an Institute of Infectious Diseases and full-fledged Telemedicine Department shall also be established at the new campus.

The Parliamentary Secretary Omer Aftab Dhillon thanked the Chancellor KEMU on his support and patronage due to which PC-II has been completed with the cooperation of P&D and SHC&ME Dep’t, Govt. of the Punjab.Ch. Muhammad Sarwar advised that this Project should be completed phase wise in the given timeline on fast track. He appreciated the performance of Telemedicine Department on provision of uninterrupted Telemedicine services to the ailing humanity.

According to another communication the 13th meeting of Senate of KEMU was held under the Chairmanship of Governor of Punjab / Chancellor, KEMU, Ch. Muhammad Sarwar. The revised budget for the financial year 2020-2021 and estimated budget for the financial year 2021-2022 were approved. 

Prof. Aisha Malik, Chairperson, Department of Obstt. & Gynecology and Prof. Muhammad Saqib Saeed, Chairman, Department of Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases / Pulmonology, KEMU, were approved as Dean Board of Faculty of Surgery and Allied Specialties and Board of Faculty of Medicine & Allied Specialties, respectively. Both will also be members of KEMU Syndicate. The issue of regularization of teaching staff appointed on University Cadre was discussed and a Committee was constituted to look into the matter and submit its recommendations.
