We are providing equal admission, training, monitoring policy and are currently working on training and monitoring evaluation. This was stated by Prof. Zafar Ullah Chaudhry President of CPSP while briefing the members of the media at CPSP on January 7th, 2012 regarding Gold Jubilee Celebrations of CPSP. Prof. Tipu Sultan Convener of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations, Prof. Tariq Mahmood and Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal Vice Presidents, besides some members of the organizing committee were also present at the occasion.</font><p align="center"> <img border="0" src="images/Pict-02=CPSP.jpg" width="394" height="238"><blockquote> <blockquote> <blockquote> <blockquote> <blockquote> <blockquote> <blockquote> <blockquote> <p align="justify" dir="ltr"><i><font size="2" face="Arial">Prof Tipu Sultan Chairman of the organizing committee of CPSP Silver Jubilee Celebrations (2nd from right) speaking at the press conference to highlight the conference programme. The college has so far trained eighteen thousand eight hundred and two specialists in different specialties. It has fourteen Regional Centers and three centers abroad (Katmandu, Jeddah and Riyadh), besides accredited institutions in the country and abroad. Number of specialists produced by the CPSP, he stated was not adequate as Pakistan needs about one hundred thousand specialists while at present we have twenty six thousand only. <br> Prof. Zafaraulla Chaudhry further stated that the CPSP generates its own resources that is why it has been able to maintain its credibility and now enjoys international recognition. Its annual budget was around Rs. 29 crore which was generated through fees and other charges and no financial grant from any government is being provided. One thousand five hundred thirty six people has been trained in ATLS, ACLS and BLS advance skills training workshops and Paediatric advance life support (PALS) is in developing phase. Our specialists have competence in their respective fields comparable to their counterparts in the developed World. As a part of its quality control initiatives, CPSP had suspended recognition of over two dozens of its accredited institutions belonging to private and public sectors, he added. <br> Prof. Tipu Sultan speaking at the occasion informed that College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan has decided to build a state-of-the-art skill laboratory with donations from its councilors and fellows which would be dedicated to the teaching and training of postgraduates. This would be a gift to the students and college for training of the future specialists. A  wall of honour would also be built for those who would donate Rupees one lac to college and all the councilors would be the initial donors towards this effort.<br> Giving details of the CPSP Golden Jubilee celebrations which kicked off on January 7th, 2012, Prof. Syed Tipu Sultan said that CPSP which was founded in 1962 would celebrate 2012 as the  Golden Jubilee Year by holding symposia, seminars, lectures and medical education sessions at its regional centers across the country, including its headquarter in Karachi. The celebrations began on January 7th with the hoisting of the national flag and playing of the national anthem. CPSP President Prof Zafar Ullah Chaudhry made the inaugural speech which was followed by distribution of sweets among employees of the college.<br> Scientific programme Prof. Tipu said includes memorial lectures to honour late Lt. Gen. W. A. Burki Founder President of CPSP, late Prof. N. A. Seyal, Prof.MAH Siddiqui and Prof. Fazal Ellahi all of whom have contributed a great deal in the CPSP. In addition CPSP has planned four joint congresses including those with Royal Colleges of UK, Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and College of Physicians &amp; Surgeons Bangladesh. First of the major activities of CPSP Golden Jubilee celebrations includes a convocation joint meeting with the CPSP counterpart in Bangladesh scheduled from April 13 -14 at Lahore followed by Scientific session at Islamabad from May 4-5, 2012, Convocation and scientific session at Peshawar from June, 8-9, scientific sessions at Quetta from 6-7th July and Convocation, joint scientific session with Royal Colleges at Karachi from November 9-11, 2012. There will be numerous workshops in different specialties while many eminent medical personalities will be delivering State of the Art lectures on important topics, he added.<br> Replying to a question Prof. Prof. Zafaraulla Chaudhry said that two batches of consultants have completed their three months posting in Saudi Arabia under an agreement signed with Saudi Government and third batch is due to leave in February, 2012. These consultants are being paid between thirty three thousand to fifty thousand Saudi Riyals per month plus return air ticket and family accommodation. We have made such arrangements that no one will be able to overstay and all these consultants will return back to Pakistan after spending three months as we do not want to encourage brain drain. <br> Answering another question Prof. Zafaraulla Chaudhry said that CPSP offers three types of fellowship which includes fellowship with exam, Honorary Fellowship which has been awarded to Late.
