Dr. Taslim Alvi, Professor and Head Department of Anesthesiology at Hamdard University Hospital performing the Otsuka monthly lucky draw held at Otsuka Head office on June 24, 2009.

Speaking at the occasion Prof. Taslim Alvi said that pricking of I.V infusion bottle is a very common practice in our hospitals. It needs strict measures to stop this practice which is mostly done by nurses and para medics. Healthcare providers are always at high risk of getting hepatitis B or C due to needle stick injuries. Ethical practices and emphasis on prevention of the diseases are important to prevent hepatitis and other communicable diseases. Medical Professionals must follow standard operating protocol which will help them to protect themselves from getting infected. Separate educational programs for Para medics must be organized which will help save many precious lives. Screening of patients should be a routine practice in our hospitals which will also help to prevent different infectious diseases, she added. She urged the owners of the hospitals to purchase quality products which will be a great service for the patients.
Earlier Mr. Muhammad Arshad Khan, stated that we in Otsuka are playing our role for the betterment of our society. On the Word Hepatitis Day and International Nurses Day which was observed last month, Otsuka Pakistan actively participated and organized various activities for Nurses to pay tributes to the noble profession of Nursing in Pakistan.
