LAHORE: Prof. Tahir Saeed
Haroon FRCP, FCPS an eminent dermatologist who retired as Prof. of
Dermatology from King Edward Medical College many years ago has now
published his sixth compilation of Dohay which has been named as “Praim
Ras”. After having made his mark in the field of medicine in general and
dermatology in particular, Prof. Tahir Saeed Haroon is now also well
known in the literary circles having authors many books in Urdu. Earlier
he had published five compilations of his Dohay i.e.”Man Mauj”, “Neela
Chandarman”, “Preet Saghar”, “Man Bani” and “Megh Malhar”. He also has
the distinction of now having over five thousand Dohay a unique sanaf of
Urdu literature, to his credit.
Prof. Tahir Saeed Haroon’s contributions in the field of medicine and
dermatology are immense and he along with his colleagues was responsible
for earning Dermatology its rightful place as a discipline of medicine
in Pakistan. It was not at all an easy task and required long struggle.
Though he started saying couplets, Ghazals many many years ago but ever
since his retirement, he seems to have fully concentrated on Dohay to
convey his feelings of love, affection. This is also a commentary on our
existing state of affairs in the society and country. As a God fearing,
kind hearted physician, he is quite sensitive and does get affected with
the current environment which is also depicted in his innocent poetry.
Many distinguished literary figures which include Dr. Waheed Qureshi,
Dr. Saleem Akhtar, Dr. Manazar Aashiq Harghanvi, Dr. Wazeer Agha, Dr.
Anwar Sadeed; Mr. Nasir Shahzad has commended his poetry and literary
accomplishments. Another well known personality in the literary field
Mr. Intezar Hussain has written the Foreword of this Book and praised
his poetry. The book is published by Sang-e-Meel Publications Lahore and
