KARACHI:
PharmEvo a fast growing national pharmaceutical concern which is known
as an ethical company in the Pharma industry has established a Career
Counseling Centre in collaboration with Karachi University in the
Pharmacy department. To formally inaugurate this facility a simple but
impressive ceremony was arranged which was presided by Vice Chancellor,
University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui. Mr. Haroon
Qasim, Managing Director , PharmEvo, Mr. Jamshed Ahmed, Director
Marketing and Sales, Prof. Dr. Waseem ud Deen, Head Department of
Pharmacy , members of Faculty Department and a large number of teachers,
students and PharmEvo staff graced the occasion with their presence. Dr.
Hanif Mohammed, Trainer and Consultant of Da Vinci Trainers and
Consultants who will be the Supervisor of this course was also present.

Speaking at the occasion Prof. Pirzada Qasim Raza said that career
counseling is very important for our future generation. PharmEvo
sponsored career counseling centre will provide students an opportunity
to choose their professions in future as well as to improve their
skills. This project Prof.. Pirzada Qasim stated is unique as no other
public university is offering such facility to its students. Majority of
Pakistani students choose such professions which did not match their
natural tendency of work, because they do not have guidance and
counseling regarding their career like in developed countries. PharmEvo
career counseling centre will support at individual and collective level
towards betterment of students skills, he added.
Continuing Prof. Pirzada Qasim Raza said that about one hundred twenty
five thousand students are enrolled in Karachi University out of which
fifty three thousand are in Commerce department. Keeping in mind the
importance of career counseling program a Separate Institute of Carrier
Counseling will be established with at least 20 t0 25 members full time
staff to guide the students for their future career.
Talking about PharmEvo Prof. Pirzada Qasim Raza said that this
organization is entirely different from other Pharma companies. PharmEvo
is playing its role to contribute for the betterment of our society with
various innovative and educational projects and with interaction with
different institutions. Lot of books on Adab, besides printing and
disseminating a variety of books on literature, informative calendars
with useful messages are very well accepted. He thanked Mr. Haroon Qasim
and Mr. Jamshed Ahmed for their services and efforts for the betterment
of the society which is a noble cause, he added.
Talking about Pharmacy department, Prof. Pirzada Qasim Raza said that it
is very important faculty of KU and it has got lot of preference because
research and development is a very essential component of any
development. He praised the services of Prof. Wasim-ud-Deen and other
faculty members for their tireless services to promote this discipline.
Addressing the participants Mr. Haroon Qasim said that we have
progressed a lot and we are not less than others but in today
competitive world , we have to do a lot. Being a pharmaceutical company
we were not only concerned about health improvement but were also aware
of our social responsibility about future of students in shape of career
counseling. The career counseling centre will provide students a chance
to have close interaction with experts from various walks of life and to
get benefit from their experience. We will provide good advice to
students and they have to take benefit from it. Utilization of this
facility should be the mission of the students. Career Counseling Centre
is another manifestation of our dream, a healthier society which is
becoming true looking at this new facility and we will continuing to
integrate social and environmental responsibility into every aspect of
our business. Mr. Haroon Qasim added.
Mr. Jamshed Ahmed in his address said that PharmEvo which means
pharmaceutical and evolution was launched in 1999. From the very
beginning we decided not to copy others and we wants to be different. We
focused on the development of Doctors and arranged various projects in
this regard. A skill development Centre was established at Dow
University of Health Sciences where twenty computers were installed and
about twenty five hundred doctors had been trained. Information Kiosk
has been installed in various institutes where facility for surfing of
references and research articles for doctors has been provided. In
Pakistan we criticize each other all the time instead of playing our
role for the betterment of our society and country. We have planed this
career counseling facility which will be expanded further, he added.
Mr. Hanif Muhammad in his brief remarks said that in West, carrier
counseling starts at 10th grade while in Pakistan we stands nowhere.
During this career counseling session we will discuss option, skill
development, marketing yourself which includes, interview, CV
preparation besides interactions and further future developments, he
added. This programme will help the society, organizations and
University Mr. Hanif further added.
Earlier in his welcome address Dr. Wasim-ud-Din Ahmed said that there
was no guidelines for us when we graduated and went in various
departments and it was very difficult to adjust because we have no idea
of what to do. It was due to lack of career counseling. It is very
important that before getting degree one should have proper guidance to
select their interested field. It is only possible if we have guidance
which will help us to achieve our goals. Lot of projects have been
accomplished at pharmacy department and many projects are in pipeline,
he added.
Dr. Iqbal Azhar presented the vote of thanks and stated that after forty
six years teaching at Pharmacy department, our dream has come true when
our students will be able to decide about their future. First time in
the history of Karachi University Gold medals to 2nd and 3rd position
holders of morning and evening batches were being presented which are
also sponsored by M/s PharmEvo, he added.
On this occasion, Prof. Pirzada Qasim Raza and Mr. Haroon Qasim
distributed gold medals among top position holders of KU’s Pharmacy
department. PharmEvo will also bear all expenses of academic and
non-academic staff salaries and renovation cost of career counseling
centre. |
